international highway "Odessa – Brest”, and 10 km from Balti

The S.E."Moldaeroservice" ,
• The construction of infrastructure for BALTI International Airport
started in 1970s-1980s, according to the project of the Central
Architectural Bureau. Since 1980s, LUBL became the most
important airport in the North of Moldova.
• After the official opening in late1980s, the airport was operated
by airplanes from Chisinau of the former Moldavian branch of
the Soviet Aeroflot company. At that time, it was called BALTILeadoveni
• - LUBL was put in commission and received the
first technical flight.
• According to the former plans it was designed to build two
terminals, one for passenger and another for cargo services, as
well as one control tower. Nevertheless the general plans
remained uncompleted such as several buildings have the
status of temporary facilities, namely the terminal building.
